Fatal Dunkirk single-vehicle crash death of Andrew Francis Evans II – Obituary
A Washington, D.C., man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Monday in Dunkirk, Maryland.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the crash just before 2:30 p.m. near MD Route 4 and Cedarwood Lane. Investigators determined that a GMC Yukon was traveling along MD Route 4 near Lysons Creek Road when it first drifted off the road, hitting a speed limit sign in a grassy area.
Witness accounts and evidence revealed the SUV reentered the road, began speeding, and swerved erratically before crossing a grassy median near Ashwood Drive into the northbound lanes. The vehicle veered off the road again and crashed into a tree.
The driver, 43-year-old Andrew Francis Evans II, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities suspect that speeding and a potential medical emergency may have contributed to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
