Fatal Wayne, Kane County crash deaths of Felix Mendoza-Urbieta and Noemi Apolinar-Huerta – Obituary
A tragic head-on collision in Wayne on Sunday evening claimed the lives of Felix Mendoza-Urbieta, 45, and his wife, Noemi Apolinar-Huerta, 44. According to the Kane County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred at 6:36 p.m. on Dunham Road, south of Stearns Road.
Mendoza-Urbieta, driving a Toyota Corolla southbound, lost control and crossed the centerline, colliding with a northbound Toyota Highlander.
Mendoza-Urbieta was transported to Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he later died, while Apolinar-Huerta died at the scene. The driver of the Highlander and her 12-year-old daughter sustained minor injuries.
The Wayne Police Department, along with the DuPage Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team, is currently investigating the crash.
