On November 8, 2011, Margery Louise Gill, 69, of Henderson, tragically lost her life when she was struck by a UPS truck. The incident occurred in the 2500 block of Swan Ridge Avenue, near Pebble Road and Eastern Avenue, in a residential area. According to Las Vegas police, the UPS truck, driven by 41-year-old David McCallum of Las Vegas, was traveling west on Swan Ridge Avenue when it hit Gill, who was crossing the street from south to north.
This fatality marked the 60th vehicle-related death under Las Vegas police jurisdiction in 2011. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the cause of the crash.
