An 18-year-old suspect, Steven Bernard, was arrested on Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting in central Las Vegas that occurred last weekend. The incident took place on December 7, 2024, at approximately 1:12 p.m. on D Street. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Bernard, who lived at the residence, shot 36-year-old Paul Burkhart during a domestic dispute with his wife. Burkhart later died from multiple gunshot wounds at a nearby hospital. His wife, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, survived the ordeal.
After the shooting, Bernard fled the scene in the couple’s vehicle. Police apprehended him shortly after the incident. The Clark County Coroner’s Office ruled Burkhart’s death a homicide. Investigations are ongoing, with alcohol possibly being a factor in the incident.
