Fatal Selmer shooting death of Daniel Holmes – Obituary
Daniel Holmes, 39, was killed during a shootout with law enforcement in Selmer, Tennessee, on Saturday afternoon. The incident began around 3 p.m. when Selmer Police officers responded to a report of a “suspicious person” outside a residence on New Bethel Road. Holmes opened fire, fatally striking an officer on the scene.
A second officer arrived and returned fire, resulting in Holmes’ death, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The fallen officer was later identified as Rick Finley. Finley worked part-time with the Selmer Police Department while serving full-time as a deputy for the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office.
