James Agee, 58, of Pine Bluff, tragically died in a house fire on Friday evening at his residence on Old Star City Road. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office believes the remains found in the fire are those of Agee, a known resident of the home.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 6:37 p.m. after reports of a residential fire with a possible occupant inside. Firefighters discovered human remains in the home, which family members later identified as Agee. The remains will be sent to the state’s Crime Laboratory for official identification and to determine the cause of death.
While authorities do not suspect foul play at this time, the incident remains an open investigation pending further information.
