The victim of a fatal crash involving a bicyclist and a car in Rolling Meadows on December 17, 2024, has been identified as 41-year-old Patrick J. Houlihan of Rolling Meadows. The incident occurred around 9:27 p.m. at the intersection of Rohlwing Road and Campbell Street.
A witness, Virginia Coglianese, described seeing Houlihan lying in the roadway shortly after the crash. He was conscious and able to speak but was disoriented. Coglianese and her son tried to assist and called 911. Despite efforts to help, Houlihan was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver involved in the crash reportedly left the scene initially but returned shortly after the accident. Authorities confirmed the driver is cooperating with the investigation, and no charges have been filed as of the latest update.
The incident is being thoroughly investigated by the Rolling Meadows Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team’s (MCAT) Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team.
