Fatal El Cajon hit-and-run death of Richard Michael Santana – Obituary.
Richard Michael Santana, 63, tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crossing E. Main Street in El Cajon on December 12, 2024. Authorities received a call around 5:14 p.m. regarding the collision involving a white 2005 Dodge Ram, which struck Santana outside of the crosswalk before fleeing the scene.
Using city surveillance technology, the authorities were able to identify the truck and its owner. The 64-year-old driver later met with officers and was arrested for felony hit-and-run. Santana’s death was ruled accidental, and the investigation continues.
