Fatal Highland house fire claims the life of Phillip Damberg – Obituary.

A tragic fire on Christmas Day at a residence on North Riverside Road in Highland led to the death of Phillip Damberg, a 69-year-old man. Authorities confirmed that Damberg passed away from smoke inhalation after being found in a bedroom at approximately 3:15 a.m.

 

The fire reportedly originated from a woodburning stove, according to State Police. Firefighters from the Highland Fire Department responded to the incident with assistance from Milton and Esopus fire crews.

 

This unfortunate incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential hazards associated with home heating equipment during the winter months. Authorities continue to urge homeowners to prioritize fire safety when using wood stoves and similar devices.
