Authorities have identified 42-year-old Freddie Medina as the pedestrian who lost his life in a fatal vehicle collision in Jurupa Valley. The incident occurred at approximately 6:05 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Soto Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered two pedestrians lying in the roadway, alongside the driver, who remained on-site. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, both individuals were transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where Medina was pronounced dead. The other pedestrian was admitted in critical condition.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team is leading the investigation, though the cause of the crash remains unclear. Authorities have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.
To facilitate the investigation, officials temporarily closed Mission Boulevard between Valley Way and Soto Avenue.
