Fatal Jackson shooting death of Phillip Dewayne Thomas – Obituary
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 4, 2025, Jackson Police responded to a shooting at the Red Dog Saloon Bar and Grill on South Highland Avenue.
Officers arrived to find 32-year-old Phillip Dewayne Thomas suffering from a gunshot wound at the entrance of the bar.
Despite attempts to save him, Thomas was declared dead at the scene. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect, leading to the identification and arrest of 55-year-old Dantae Connor in Crockett County.
Connor has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and is set for a formal arraignment on January 7, 2025. The incident continues to impact the community, and condolences are extended to Thomas’ family.
