Fatal Mt. Zion ATV crash death of Jack D. Brinkoetter – Obituary
Jack D. Brinkoetter, 10, tragically passed away on January 5, 2025, after a devastating ATV accident in Mt. Zion. The incident occurred when Jack and another 5th-grade student were being towed on an inner tube behind an ATV.
As the driver turned on a slope, the tube was thrown into a large boulder. Jack was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital.
The other boy, whose name has not been released, remains in critical condition at a trauma center in Springfield. Both children were students at Mt. Zion Intermediate School. The investigation is ongoing.
