Fatal Highway 178 crash death of Kaitlyn Rose Sawyer – Obituary

Kaitlyn Rose Sawyer, a 24-year-old woman, tragically lost her life in a rollover crash on Highway 178 near Lake Isabella on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that around 9:50 p.m. on January 4, they received a call about the pinged location of a missing person’s phone.

Responding officers, along with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, discovered a crashed vehicle at mile post marker 36 along the highway.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Sawyer had been driving a 1999 Ford Ranger eastbound when the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the canyon for reasons that remain unclear. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic in the area was disrupted for nearly six hours as authorities conducted their investigation. It remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
