In a tragic incident on New Year’s Eve, 30-year-old Ben Matter was fatally stabbed during a fight at the Phat Pheasant Pub in Windom, Minnesota.
Police report that the altercation began when a man identified as “No Name Given Happy” became confrontational while playing pool at the bar.
Despite warnings from others, Happy continued to provoke people, leading to him being escorted out.
After a brief absence, Happy returned to the pub with a knife and allegedly stabbed Matter twice, including a wound to the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
Other patrons managed to subdue Happy until police arrived. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently in jail awaiting trial.
Matter, described as a loving father of two, is remembered as a kind and generous person by those who knew him.
