A deadly collision occurred earlier this week on a downtown St. Louis highway, claiming the life of 38-year-old Justin Foree, a resident of Concord, Missouri. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed his identity following the tragic event.
On the night of January 4, around 11 p.m., officers from District 4 responded to reports of an accident on the entrance ramp leading to the Poplar Street Bridge from I-55 Northbound. Upon arrival, authorities found a vehicle that had crashed into the back of a stationary tractor-trailer.
The driver of the car, later identified as Foree, was found unresponsive and was declared dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer’s operator, who had been waiting for assistance, was unharmed in the collision.
SLMPD’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident to determine the factors that led to the crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that the tractor-trailer had stalled in the far left lane, displaying hazard lights and placing safety triangles to warn other motorists. Despite these precautions, the accident could not be avoided.
As officials continue their investigation, the community is left in shock, and Foree’s family and friends are left mourning his untimely passing.
