Fatal Las Cruces bicycle crash death of Lorenzo Espinoza – Obituary

A tragic bicycle accident in Las Cruces claimed the life of 61-year-old Lorenzo Espinoza on the evening of January 7, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

 

Emergency services responded shortly after 7 p.m. to reports of a collision near the intersection of north Alameda Boulevard and Harvard Drive.

Upon arrival, they found Espinoza unconscious with severe injuries. He was immediately transported to Mountainview Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Authorities reported that Espinoza had been riding northbound in a designated bike lane on Alameda Boulevard when a gray SUV struck him from behind. The SUV’s driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

 

At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver, and officials have indicated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as the community mourns the loss of Lorenzo Espinoza.
