Fatal St. Lucie County police chase crash death of Arsenio Mas – Obituary
Arsenio Mas, a truck driver from Homestead, tragically lost his life in February during a high-speed police pursuit on Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County. The incident also resulted in the death of Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper Zachary Fink.
According to reports, Trooper Fink attempted to use the grassy median to intercept a fleeing vehicle but collided with Mas’s truck in the process. Both men were killed in the resulting crash.
Mas’s family has now filed a lawsuit against the Florida Highway Patrol, alleging that Fink acted recklessly by driving at speeds of up to 120 mph and failing to follow proper protocols.
After unsuccessful negotiations with FHP, the lawsuit was officially submitted on December 27. The Florida Highway Patrol has yet to issue a public statement regarding the case.
As legal proceedings continue, the family of Arsenio Mas mourns the loss of their loved one, seeking accountability for the tragedy that ended his life.
