Fatal Iroquois County train collision death of Aaron Pittman-Teague – Obituary
Authorities have identified 29-year-old Aaron Pittman-Teague, an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) snowplow driver, as the victim of a deadly collision with a train in Iroquois County on Monday morning.
The accident happened near Danforth around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and County Road 2300 North.
According to state police, Pittman-Teague’s snowplow was struck by a passing Canadian National freight train. The railroad crossing lacked bar gates and warning lights. Following the crash, he was transported to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted, with results pending further toxicology testing. IDOT spokesperson Paul Wappel expressed condolences, stating that Pittman-Teague had been serving as a temporary highway maintainer since 2023. IDOT is fully cooperating with the Illinois State Police in the ongoing investigation.
