A tragic accident early Tuesday morning in Athens led to the death of 63-year-old Joseph Buckles, a local resident.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. near the intersection of W. Broad Street and Old Epps Bridge Road. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to save him, Buckles was declared deceased at the scene.
Authorities reported that the 21-year-old driver, from Lawrenceville, was unharmed in the collision.
