Makenzie Jackson dies in fatal Lee County motorcycle crash
Fatal Lee County motorcycle crash death of Makenzie Jackson – Obituary
Makenzie Jackson, an 18-year-old student at Lee County High School, tragically lost her life in a motorcycle crash on New Year’s Day.
The incident occurred on Forester Parkway when the driver, 19-year-old Michael Evans, attempted to flee from a traffic stop after being caught speeding.
In the process, Evans crashed into a trash can, throwing both him and Jackson off the motorcycle. Jackson, who was found unresponsive, was later pronounced dead at Phoebe Putney Hospital.
Friends and family of Jackson, including her close friend Abigail Allegood, expressed their shock and grief over the loss. “It was just really surreal.
You never expect to hear that your best friend died,” said Allegood. Jackson’s father, Zachary Jackson, reflected on his daughter’s bright future, expressing heartache over the fact that she would never get to graduate this May.
He also criticized Evans for his actions, emphasizing that he could have prevented the crash by letting Jackson off the bike before fleeing.
