Fatal Hunt County motorcycle crash death of Gabriel Bixby – Obituary

Gabriel Bixby, a 29-year-old off-duty Dallas police officer, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Tuesday in Hunt County.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on State Highway 276, when Bixby’s motorcycle collided with a Honda Accord driven by an 85-year-old man who reportedly turned in front of him.

While the elderly driver was hospitalized with unspecified injuries, Officer Bixby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bixby, a member of the Dallas Police Department since 2018, was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.

His sudden death has deeply affected the department and his colleagues. Interim Dallas Police Chief Michael Igo expressed his condolences, saying, “Anytime we lose an officer, it’s heartbreaking.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Officer Bixby, along with the Northeast Patrol Division.”
