Venanzio (Vinny) Tirabassi dies in fatal Hamilton stabbing incident
Fatal Hamilton stabbing death of Venanzio Tirabassi – Obituary
Venanzio (Vinny) Tirabassi, 47, passed away in the hospital on Tuesday after succumbing to injuries sustained in a stabbing earlier this year.
The tragic incident took place on the evening of January 2, when police were called to the Good Shepherd homeless shelter in Hamilton’s downtown area. Upon arrival, officers found Tirabassi suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
The accused, identified as 53-year-old Fredeman Renderos, was arrested at the scene. Initially charged with aggravated assault, Renderos now faces an upgraded charge of second-degree murder.
Authorities confirmed that both the accused and the victim were long-time residents of the shelter, and the attack appears to have been isolated.
“Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Vinny’s loved ones during this extremely difficult period,” a spokesperson for the Hamilton Police Service stated.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation as inquiries continue.
