Authorities have identified 22-year-old Zachary Ethan Colety as the man who tragically died from a suspected opioid overdose in Corte Madera on January 4.
Central Marin Police responded to a report of an unconscious individual in a vehicle parked on Sunnyside Avenue, where Colety was pronounced dead.
The Marin County coroner’s office has indicated that the overdose was likely opioid-related. However, officials have not confirmed whether fentanyl or another type of opioid was involved.
Two local residents, Raul Beltran, 25, and Olivia Peters, 22, were taken into custody in connection with Colety’s death.
Both suspects have been charged with voluntary manslaughter and providing a controlled substance that resulted in significant injury. They remain in Marin County Jail with bail set at $100,000 each.
