Luis Zamora Gonzalez, 66, was fatally struck while crossing Broadway at Essex Street near a McDonald’s on Tuesday night. His identity was confirmed by the District Attorney’s office on Thursday afternoon.
According to officials, Gonzalez was hit by two vehicles: a 2014 Buick Enclave and a 2018 Infiniti QX30. Emergency responders, including Lawrence police, firefighters, and paramedics, arrived at the scene, where Gonzalez was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not indicated whether charges will be filed against either driver. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the initial investigation. Their names have not been made public.
The case is being handled by local police, state troopers from the District Attorney’s office, a collision analysis and reconstruction team, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Further updates will follow as the investigation continues.
