Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Stephany Reyes from Indio on Wednesday night. According to a statement by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a serious crash on Country Club Drive shortly after 9:45 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found three vehicles in the westbound lanes. Tragically, Reyes, one of the drivers involved, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by paramedics.
Preliminary findings by the Palm Desert Traffic Team suggest that a vehicle traveling eastbound entered the westbound lanes, colliding with two oncoming vehicles. It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, and further investigation is ongoing.
