Authorities in Beaufort, South Carolina, have identified 62-year-old Huey Marshall as the victim of a homicide at his Garden Oaks apartment on December 30.
The Beaufort Police Department confirmed that 35-year-old Bryan Antwan Thomas has been charged in connection with the crime.
Police were called to the apartment at 11:05 a.m. after a concerned family member reported being unable to contact Marshall. Upon arrival, officers discovered Marshall’s body, initially treating the case as a suspicious death.
Further investigation, aided by several anonymous tips, led to the arrest of Thomas, who now faces charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Investigators continue to gather evidence as the community grapples with the tragic loss.
