Hannah Lebert dies in fatal Mundelein head-on crash
Fatal Mundelein head-on crash death of Hannah Lebert – Obituary
Hannah Lebert, a 24-year-old resident of Lemont, tragically lost her life in a collision with a semi-truck early Tuesday morning in Mundelein, according to Lake County officials.
The accident occurred around 1:05 a.m. on IL Route 45, just south of University Drive. Police reported that Lebert’s Acura sedan crossed the center median while traveling southbound and collided head-on with a semi-truck traveling northbound.
First responders found Lebert in critical condition inside the heavily damaged vehicle. She was extracted by emergency crews and transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The semi-truck’s driver, a 44-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.
Authorities believe speed may have played a role in Lebert’s loss of control. Toxicology tests are pending for both drivers, though there is no initial evidence of impairment on the part of the semi-truck driver.
The crash led to the closure of northbound lanes on IL Route 45 for several hours as investigators from the Mundelein Police Department, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office examined the scene.
The investigation into this tragic incident remains ongoing.
