Fatal Rusk County shooting death of Matthew Mefford – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that 46-year-old Matthew Mefford has died following a shooting incident earlier this week in Rusk County, Texas.
Mefford was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday along Rusk County Road 411D. He was initially transported to a hospital in Henderson before being airlifted to Tyler for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, he passed away on Friday.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a woman. The suspect, James Dillon Little, was initially arrested on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Following Mefford’s death, his charges are expected to be upgraded.
