Fatal Detroit Lakes pedestrian crash death of Dean Chadbourne – Obituary
Dean Chadbourne, an 81-year-old resident of Detroit Lakes, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle on January 25, 2025.
Mariska Kay Nunn, 20, from Detroit Lakes, has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the incident.
Police responded to the crash scene at 12:15 p.m. on Randolph Road, where they found Chadbourne lying in the eastbound lane. He was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries shortly after.
Nunn, driving a Ford Focus with a damaged windshield, admitted to being distracted by watching TikTok videos on her phone at the time of the crash. A subsequent search of her phone confirmed that she had been viewing TikTok minutes before calling 911.
The investigation into the crash continues as Nunn faces charges related to the fatal collision.
