Fatal Suffolk, Virginia motorcycle crash death of Wyatt Austin Brill – Obituary

A motorcyclist who was involved in a high-speed police chase has been found dead following a crash in Suffolk on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 12:14 p.m., authorities shut down both directions of traffic on Godwin Boulevard near the 4100 block due to the fatal accident. The Virginia State Police (VSP) confirmed the road closure was necessary as they investigated the scene.

Police identified the deceased as 30-year-old Wyatt Austin Brill, a resident of Bedford Place in Suffolk. His body was discovered around 12:42 p.m., approximately 25 feet from the roadway, down a 40-foot embankment covered in brush.

The incident began the previous evening, January 30, when a state trooper attempted to stop a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle for speeding at 100 mph in a 55 mph zone along Route 10 near Five Mile Road. Brill refused to stop and continued eastbound, illegally passing vehicles on a double solid line. The trooper lost sight of him near Kings Fork Road at 6:33 p.m. and ended the pursuit.

Shortly afterward, at 6:46 p.m., the driver of a 2018 Ford Explorer contacted authorities, reporting that she had been sideswiped during the chase on Godwin Boulevard, east of Harrell Drive. The driver was uninjured.

Officers searched for Brill throughout the night, initially investigating the incident as a hit-and-run. His body was later discovered the next afternoon, confirming that he had crashed.

Authorities have since reopened Route 10 following the conclusion of their investigation.
