Authorities have confirmed that 67-year-old Betsey Rolston lost her life in a tragic collision in Killeen on February 5.
According to the Killeen Police Department, the incident occurred when a stolen Jeep, being pursued by officers, collided with Rolston’s vehicle near the First National Bank of Texas at the intersection of Trimmier Road and Grandon Drive.
The pursuit began around 11:53 a.m. when an officer spotted a gray Jeep that had been reported stolen. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the Jeep refused to comply and sped south on Trimmier Road.
As the chase continued, the Jeep veered into the northbound lane, slamming into Rolston’s silver sedan. The impact caused the sedan to collide with a black pickup truck, which subsequently overturned.
Emergency responders pronounced Rolston dead at the scene.
Two suspects, aged 14 and 15, fled from the Jeep but were quickly apprehended by police. A third suspect, also 15, was later identified. Due to their ages, authorities have not released their names.
