Authorities have identified 21-year-old Rolando German Ramirez Vargas as the victim of a deadly shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at Potomac Park in Bakersfield.
The incident took place around 6 a.m. when law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Vargas with fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the shooting, which resulted in a significant law enforcement presence at the park for several hours. Officials have not yet released information regarding potential suspects or a motive.
