Tri-Marea Rayquan Charles, 26, of Titusville, was identified as the suspect killed in a police-involved shooting on Friday night. Authorities confirmed that Charles was armed when the confrontation led to an exchange of gunfire.
The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on February 7 near Robbins Avenue. Titusville police had responded to reports of a suspicious incident and encountered Charles, who was allegedly wielding a handgun. Shots were fired, and Charles sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
No officers were injured during the encounter. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting an investigation into the shooting, while the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is handling forensic evidence.
As standard procedure, the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
