Fatal Bronx shooting death of Trevor Hughes – Obituary

Trevor Hughes, a 49-year-old man, was fatally shot early Saturday morning in the Morris Park area of the Bronx after a dispute over a parking spot. The incident took place around 2 a.m. on Fowler Avenue, where Hughes confronted two men about a car blocking his driveway. The situation quickly escalated, and Hughes was shot in the stomach. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

A neighbor, Akmell Edwards, recalled how Hughes frequently parked in his driveway and explained that the altercation began when the car obstructing Hughes’ driveway sparked a heated argument. Edwards expressed disbelief over the situation, emphasizing that it was obvious the location was a driveway.

Authorities are currently seeking two men seen fleeing the scene in a Jeep SUV. One of Hughes’ neighbors, Louis Amalfitano, expressed frustration and called for justice, saying the suspects should face significant consequences.

Those who knew Hughes described him as a thoughtful and hardworking individual, always ready to lend a hand. Edwards shared that Hughes would often help with tasks such as shoveling snow for his family and assisting with various home repairs. The tragic event has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a kind man and dedicated father.
