Fatal North Las Vegas police shooting death of Jason Roscow – Obituary

North Las Vegas Police Officer Jason Roscow was killed in a shootout Tuesday afternoon after responding to an armed suspect near Camino Al Norte and Lone Mountain Road. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Alexander Andre Mathis, was also killed in the exchange of gunfire.

Officers initially arrived at the scene after reports that a man had pointed a firearm at someone. When police attempted to make contact, Mathis ignored commands and fled. Officers later located him armed and ordered him to show his hands, but he again refused and moved toward them.
