Fatal Fort Worth hit-and-run crash death of Ryon Denny Smith – Obituary
Authorities in Fort Worth are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run that led to the death of 40-year-old Ryon Denny Smith.
On Sunday, February 2, just after 10 p.m., emergency responders arrived at the 5800 block of Wedgwood Drive near Granbury Road, where they found Smith lying in the street. Investigators believe he was struck while riding his skateboard, and the driver fled the scene without stopping.
Smith was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and placed on life support, but he passed away three days later. His family, including his two teenage daughters, is pleading for anyone with information or video footage to come forward to help identify the driver.
Jennifer Dawson, Smith’s former wife, said he was a passionate musician and was carrying his guitar at the time of the accident. His 13-year-old daughter, Audrey, recalled how much he meant to her and how he had recently expressed pride in her accomplishments.
The family is now making funeral arrangements and hoping for justice. They urge the driver to turn themselves in, believing that the weight of that night will linger until the truth is revealed.
