Fatal east Tulsa shooting death of Arturo Degollado Jr. and Jett Brummett – Obituary
Two teenagers, Arturo Degollado Jr. and Jett Brummett, were tragically killed in a shooting on Saturday in east Tulsa.
Tulsa Police reported that the incident occurred early Saturday morning at an apartment complex near 21st and Garnett. Authorities responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m., where they found four teenagers shot in what appeared to be an ambush.
Degollado Jr. and Brummett, both 18, were declared dead at the scene. Another 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Christopher Atjun, 18, was arrested in connection with the shootings. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill. Atjun turned himself in to the authorities and confessed to the crime.
Multiple residents in the area reported hearing gunshots and attempted to assist the victims. One local resident, Quy Do, who works across the street from the scene, expressed concern over the frequency of incidents in the area, saying it’s not entirely surprising given the history of police calls to the apartment complex.
The investigation is ongoing, and Tulsa Police are continuing to gather details. Family members of Degollado Jr. and Brummett have set up GoFundMe pages to assist with funeral costs.
