Fatal Mustang, Oklahoma car crash death of Teresa Matthews – Obituary

Authorities in Mustang have released details about a crash that claimed the life of 50-year-old Teresa Matthews from Minco and left three others seriously injured on Friday night.

The collision happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Southwest 89th Street and State Highway 4. According to police, a Cadillac SUV had stopped at a red light when a northbound Dodge 2500 pickup truck rear-ended it at high speed.

Four people were inside the Cadillac. Three were taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, while Matthews, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials believe that dense fog played a role in the crash, but preliminary findings suggest excessive speed was also a factor.

Witnesses reported that the driver of the pickup fled on foot after the crash. Police located him about a mile away and took him into custody. His name has not been released, as formal charges are pending. However, he has been arrested on complaints of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, negligent homicide, and reckless driving. He is currently being held in the Canadian County Jail.

The Mustang Police Department continues to investigate, and the case will be presented to the Canadian County District Attorney’s Office.
