Fatal Harris County attack death of Eva Peavy – Obituary

Authorities in Harris County have charged a man with murder after his mother was found dead in the garage of their home on Wednesday night.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. at a residence on Ellesmere Drive. The caller, Peavy’s stepson, had discovered her unresponsive in the garage and immediately contacted authorities.

Investigators identified the suspect as Peavy’s biological son, Jarell Joseph. According to the stepson, Joseph was inside the home holding a hammer and behaving unusually when he arrived. Deputies encountered Joseph at the scene, detained him, and reported that he cooperated with their investigation.

Emergency responders pronounced Peavy dead at the scene, and authorities suspect a hammer may have been the weapon used in the attack. Joseph has since been booked into the Harris County Jail on a murder charge.

Officials have not confirmed if anyone else was inside the home when the incident occurred. The investigation remains ongoing.
