Fatal 405 Freeway crash death of Eduardo Membrano – Obituary

A 30-year-old man, Eduardo Membrano, tragically lost his life after driving in the wrong direction on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks early Tuesday morning. Membrano was reportedly traveling north on the southbound side of the freeway when he collided head-on with another vehicle.

The incident occurred around 4:06 a.m. near the Valley Vista Boulevard exit, prompting a response from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Membrano was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle he struck was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center with critical injuries, including multiple fractures. Fortunately, the injured driver remained conscious and was able to communicate with officers and paramedics.

Another individual involved in the accident was evaluated but did not require further medical treatment.

The crash led to a lengthy closure of the southbound lanes, significantly affecting morning traffic for many commuters.

The SigAlert that had been issued to close the lanes was lifted by 9:38 a.m. as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The incident remains under investigation.
