Authorities have identified 55-year-old Thomas Cook as the victim of a fatal shooting in Zephyrhills, Florida, on Thursday night.
Deputies from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Stillman Street and Calvin Avenue around 10:30 p.m., where they discovered Cook lying unresponsive in the roadway. His electric wheelchair was also found nearby.
Neighbors expressed shock and concern over the incident. Amanda Tucker, who lives in the area, recalled seeing a man in a motorized scooter frequently traveling to a nearby gas station. She was unsettled by how close the shooting occurred to her home, stating she heard a noise that night but did not initially recognize it as gunfire.
Residents remain puzzled as no one reported hearing any arguments or disturbances before the shooting. Tucker speculated that the suspect may have fled immediately after firing the fatal shot.
