Authorities have identified Jeffrey Allyn, 39, of Port Orchard, as the man who lost his life in a head-on collision on the Key Peninsula during a police pursuit. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon as deputies attempted to apprehend Allyn in connection with a stolen property case in Pierce County.
The pursuit began when detectives located Allyn at a gas station near Wright Bliss Road Northwest and state Route 302. According to officials, Allyn was outside his vehicle when law enforcement arrived but quickly reentered his silver Camry and attempted to flee. In the process, he struck the front of a detective’s vehicle, though the damage was minor.
Deputies followed Allyn onto state Route 302 toward Mason County, deploying spike strips in an effort to stop him, but he evaded them. The chase ultimately ended when Allyn’s car collided head-on with another vehicle after he turned onto 144th Street Northwest.
Authorities reported that Allyn was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple blunt force injuries. A woman who was in the car with him sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved also suffered minor injuries but was not seriously harmed.
