Elise Cole, a 16-year-old from Omaha, was killed Monday evening following a traffic accident near Millard West High School, according to Omaha police.
Authorities responded to the crash just after 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of 176th and Q streets. When officers arrived, they discovered a 2006 Ford F-350 and a 2017 Subaru Outback involved in the collision.
Elise Cole, who was driving the Subaru, was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. CPR had been performed at the scene in an attempt to revive her.
Police reported that the truck driver, 32-year-old Christopher Luke, ran a red light leading up to the collision. Luke was also hospitalized, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
