Ross Masson dies in fatal Kuna bicycle crash
Fatal Kuna bicycle crash death of Ross Masson – Obituary
A 67-year-old cyclist who lost his life in a crash last fall has now been identified as Ross Masson, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
Masson was riding his bicycle along the shoulder near the white line on Black Cat Road in Kuna on September 13 when a vehicle heading southbound struck him. The driver was a 26-year-old individual whose identity has not been disclosed.
Initially, the coroner’s office withheld Masson’s name and the cause of death due to an active investigation, despite a records request from the Idaho Statesman in March. The coroner reversed its decision and released the information after the investigation concluded and following a letter from the Statesman’s attorney questioning the denial.
The coroner determined Masson died from traumatic blunt force injuries, and his death was classified as accidental. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office reported that the case is nearly complete and is expected to be forwarded to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office for review in the coming days.
