According to officials, Wali became argumentative and ignored the officers’ commands, prompting the call for backup. Once additional officers arrived, Wali allegedly reached for a firearm and shot two officers. In response, a third officer opened fire, striking Wali four times, which resulted in his death at the scene.
The two officers injured in the incident were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. They sustained gunshot wounds to the upper arms and elbows. The three officers involved in the shooting are experienced members of the Fairfax County Police Department, with service durations ranging from three to 19 years.
