Chase Rhodes and Dawson Reese die in fatal South Pekin shooting

Fatal South Pekin shooting death of Chase Rhodes and Dawson Reese – Obituary.

Two individuals, Chase Rhodes and Dawson Reese, both 21 years old from Pekin, were killed in a shooting early Thursday morning, April 24, 2025, at a residence on Illinois Route 29 in South Pekin. Tazewell County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene around 4:44 a.m. and found both victims dead.

Memphis S. Rue, also 21 years old, was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder. The investigation is being led by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and the Coroner’s Office.
