Fatal Knoxville accidental shooting death of Dennis Noe – Obituary

Retired Knoxville Fire Department Captain Dennis Noe was identified as the victim of an accidental shooting on I-640 West, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Noe inside a vehicle stopped on the right shoulder of the highway, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators determined that Noe had been driving when a firearm, which was being handled by two passengers in the backseat, accidentally discharged and struck him. He was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Knoxville Fire Department shared their condolences on social media, expressing their sorrow over Noe’s passing. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our brother, retired Captain Dennis Noe,” the department wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. We are grateful for his service and honored to have known him.”

All individuals present at the scene were detained for questioning, but no charges have been filed at this time. The Knox County District Attorney’s Office has been consulted regarding the case.

To assist with funeral expenses, Noe’s daughter created a GoFundMe campaign, stating, “This is the hardest experience of my life, and I just want to make sure my father’s final wishes are fulfilled.”
