Authorities have identified Dirk Nyhuis, known as Jeff to those close to him, as the victim of a fatal shooting inside a Waterdown residence on Thursday night.
Hamilton Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. from an individual who had gone to check on the victim. Upon arrival, officers found Nyhuis deceased inside the home. A postmortem examination confirmed that he died from gunshot wounds, leading investigators to classify the case as a homicide.
Forensic teams remain on the scene, and officers are conducting neighborhood canvassing to gather security footage and speak with potential witnesses.
