Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Charles Sanders – Obituary

Seventeen-year-old Charles Sanders was fatally shot in a residential area in Kansas City’s Northland neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon. Police say they discovered Sanders in the front yard of a home near NE 75th Court and North Chas Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

 

According to early findings, Sanders had an encounter with one or more individuals which escalated into gunfire. Surveillance footage reportedly captured a man wearing a white hoodie standing over Sanders before fleeing. Neighbors said the man told them to seek help before running from the scene.

 

Witnesses in the area rushed to assist Sanders, with one resident performing CPR before authorities arrived. Other bystanders reported seeing two teens fleeing the area following the shooting.

 

No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

 

Liberty High School confirmed that Sanders was a former student and extended condolences to his family and friends. School officials also assured parents of ongoing communication with law enforcement and the availability of counseling support for students affected by the tragedy.
