Fatal Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputy shooting death of Jesus Armando Mendez Berry – Obituary
Jesus Armando Mendez Berry, a 26-year-old man, was shot and killed by a Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputy on February 25, 2025. Authorities have confirmed that he was holding a pellet gun at the time of the incident.
Mendez Berry had contacted the sheriff’s office to turn himself in for a warrant but failed to comply with deputies’ commands. Afterward, he reportedly pulled the pellet gun, prompting Deputy Sergeant Andrew Kohlmann to fire at him. Mendez Berry was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice provided an update on the case, identifying the weapon involved as a Gamo 430 CO2 Pellet/BB Handgun. Sergeant Kohlmann is currently on administrative assignment, as per department protocol, while the investigation continues.
